Director of Media Production - Job Description
Purpose: To provide for the graphic and video needs of Heritage Baptist Church in order that all ministries may display quality promotional, educational, and inspirational materials so that the body of Christ may function better through clear and creative communication. The Director of Media Productions will also help cultivate an online presence via the HBC website and social media in order to provide communication to both the local body and also those who may not know Christ online.
Responsibilities:
- Work with each ministry to coordinate production of all promotional videos, graphics, and handouts based upon guidelines in the promotional manual.
- Create quality graphics based upon HBC imaging guidelines.
- Create quality videos that properly represent Christ and HBC.
- Coordinate the recording of interviews, b-roll, training, and special events.
- Set up recording sessions including appropriate lighting and sound depending on the context.
- Maintain equipment and serve as the gatekeeper to ministries who are wanting to reserve recording equipment.
- Teach and train other ministry leaders to record/edit videos for training and/or promotional items when necessary.
- Teach and train other ministry leaders to create graphics when necessary.
- Create daily verse graphics & other content for HBC social media accounts.
- Schedule social media posts to HBC Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Help maintain and add HBC groups for Discipleship Communities & Ministry Teams on Facebook, including the creation of profile and cover photos.
- Respond to social media comments and messages when appropriate.
- Maintain and schedule digital signage throughout the church.
- Maintain and create directional and informational signs for the church.
Requirements:
- Love for Christ and His church.
- Agreement with Heritage Baptist Church’s primary points of doctrine & humility in regards to secondary issues.
- Humble and teachable spirit.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Highly motivated and organized in order to create quality content within a reasonable timeframe.
- Experience working with Adobe’s Creative Cloud programs including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro. Experience with After Effects is a plus.
- Basic understanding of various Google systems, including Google Docs and Gmail.

What is the best way to set up a time to meet with one of the pastors?
The best way is to call the office and ask for the administrative assistant to that pastor, as the assistant will know the pastor’s schedule and will be able to help you find the best time. You can also email the administrative assistant or pastor to check for meeting availability. Please call or email ahead of time so we can make sure the pastor is available.
Who do I call if my family has an emergency and we need pastoral care?
Please call the church office at 434-237-6505. If it is during office hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm), our receptionist will direct your call. If calling after hours, listen to the message on the answering machine, as it will give you the number of the pastor on call.
How do I get a prayer request listed in the prayer sheet?
Leanna Branner, our office hostess, compiles our weekly prayer sheet, which is distributed in our Wednesday night Life Training Electives. Because of the great demand to use the church building and equipment, we have a Resource Calendar in place to keep track of who is using our facilities and equipment. Submit your request at hbclynchburg.com/reservations. Fill out the form, specifying which room(s) you would prefer and/or equipment you need to borrow. All requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance. Using facilities for non-church ministry will require a deposit and room fees. Check out hbclynchburg.com/reservations for more details.
How do I get last-minute information about closings and cancellations?
We will post cancellations and closings on our Facebook Page, the church website, and the answering machine. Sunday service cancellations are usually placed on the answering machine by 7:00 am. Wednesday program cancellations are usually placed by 3:00 pm.
Does the church have a lost and found?
Our Lost and Found is located in the closet next to the Choir Room entrance (W114). The facilities crew bring items that are left behind to this closet. Valuable items, such as cell phones, jewelry, wallets, and keys, are brought to the front desk for safe-keeping. If a Bible has a name in it, the receptionist calls that person to notify them. Items left in the closet for a long period of time will be taken to Goodwill after repeated program announcements.
