Adult Ministries

As our vision statement clearly states, ‘We exist as a scriptural community to seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ …’ Life Training Electives is one avenue that assists us in accomplishing this mission.

This is done in a couple of ways.

1. We offer a variety of classes for adults that are related to spiritual growth, Bible knowledge and application, life issues, and ministry preparation. Each class is designed to better equip you for life and ministry.

2. Our Men’s and Women’s Ministries offer gender groups /classes which focus upon related issues of men and women.

3. Several classes are offered through specific Discipleship Communities designed to provide a deeper level of relationships designed to move people in discipleship.

New Connections
Pastor Nathan & Pastoral Staff
Libya, M238

New Connections is a dynamic and comprehensive introduction to the entire ministry at Heritage Baptist Church. The church’s doctrines, policies, philosophy, and structure are explained. Taught by the Senior Pastor, this class is a great way to connect with him; it is the gateway to membership at Heritage. (7 weeks starting January 24)

Harvest Partners
Jim Vernon, Marilyn Bumgardner, Bonnie Rencher
Germany, W127

Join us as we learn more about our missionaries and their work, as well as unreached people groups and other religions around the world. Our missionaries are frequently guest speakers in the meetings, and every meeting has focused prayer for our missionaries and the people they are reaching. Each segment stands alone, so you may attend a Harvest Partners meeting at any time.

Acts Mission Movements & Martyrdom
Dr. Chris Gnanakan

Acts is an apologia/defense that legitimizes the "Christian" faith and mission before the Jewish and Greco-Roman authorities.  Luke records the origin and expansion of the Church that Jesus promised to build. This study demonstrates the unfolding of God's plan of salvation for "all nations" through Jesus' Spirit-filled disciples.  Part 1 focuses on Peter and the establishing of the Church.  Part 2 examines Paul and the expansion of the NT churches.

Main Elective
Dr. Ben Laird

More than a mere collection of philosophical and ethical beliefs, Christianity was birthed by the conviction that God has intervened in human history to bring salvation to fallen man. In order to develop an appreciation and awareness of the historical foundations of Christianity, this study will examine the beliefs and practices of early Christians from the birth of the church at Pentecost through the early-third century.  Special attention will be given to the obstacles and challenges faced by early Christians including a number of fiercely debated theological controversies.

Women's Elective:
Hosea
Sheila Heath & Leslie McMonagle

Hosea, an old-testament prophet, preached his own life message using his marriage as the sermon illustration. The study of Hosea looks deeply at that message. It provides background to better understand the intricacies of the man and his message. You’ll be guided to understand, but more especially to apply the message of the prophet of love. Hosea showers us with hope—hints and portents pointing to the coming of the promised Messiah. Books will be sold in class; cost is $13.
